Area students won top awards at the Canada-Wide and Intel International science fairs this week.Twenty students representing Hamilton, Halton Region, Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant Counties, and Six Nations competed at these prestigious fairs, with their trips funded by awards won at the 53nd annual Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF) in March.
It was the best year ever for BASEF at the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF). Our sixteen competitors brought home 11 awards: one gold medal, three silver medals, six bronze medals and one Challenge Award. CWSF was held May 11 to May 18 in Lethbridge, Alberta.
At the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (IISEF) one of the four students representing our area as part of "Team Canada" brought home two awards. IISEF was held May 12 to 17 in Phoenix, Arizona.
